Rehabilitation should be viewed as a high priority for those re-entering society after incarceration. However, it is rarely a part of the US penal system's objective. We discovered one program that is doing their part to work with the men and women admitted to prison systems domestically and abroad through the healing practice of yoga and couldn't help but want to support that.
The Prison Yoga Project works directly with incarcerated persons offering mindful yoga practices and meditation led by professionally and intentionally trained instructors. Yoga, or union, binds together the mind, body, and soul by fluid, sweeping motion led by the breath. This ancient practice is known to rewire the brain in an overwhelming positive way and has become known as a form of overall wellness therapy. We are proud to be working with this worthy cause in donation of AshtaLuxe yoga mats and Patella Pads for inmates and instructors.
